From bug-chasing to denial
Bug-chasers actively seek out HIV infection. And some others simply live in denial.
Modern miracles
Aspirin, contraceptives, e-mail, soap, dentists. 200 years ago none of these existed.

Bagless in Frankfurt

I have just arrived back from an overseas trip! My first job was in Phoenix Arizona, and getting there took over 30 hours.

I flew with British Airways via London and had a layover of 8 hours, which enabled me to enjoy some duty free shopping. The clients I worked for in Phoenix took me to the most amazing locations - from horse riding with cowboys in the dessert to 20 million dollar homes on the cliffs. One even had a stretch limo parked outside!

The team was very easy to work with and we went for lovely dinners every night. The weather was very mild, but extremely dry! My nose wouldn’t stop bleeding for the first 3 days and I also suffered from a bit of jet lag, because of the 9-hour time difference.

From America I flew to my next booking in Frankfurt. My baggage unfortunately did not arrive in time and British Airways was kind enough to give me a clean T-shirt and a small cosmetic bag! So I arrived at the studio in a caftan and my flip-flops. The client thought I was very cool to wear such clothes with the snow falling outside! I waited patiently for 4 days to get my bag, by which time I was just about to return home!

This time around the job was much harder, seeing as we had a lot of shots each day and I was already getting homesick. I was fortunate enough to make a new friend in the city. I went to an Indian restaurant alone and met the kindest waiter who kept me company and took my mind off my lost bag-situation by telling me funny stories about his country.

On Tuesday Paul and Garth from the S.A Chefs’ Academy made an amazing dinner for my friends and me at Kia Ora! I managed to book the restaurant just for us for the evening. The next morning I checked in with a client who will be staying for 6 weeks while shooting a movie in Cape Town.

Right now I am catching up with my family and friends as well as organising my birthday party next week!

Baci (kisses)!

Tanya
