Make sure that your parents regularly go for health check-ups; be on the lookout for joint pain, which could signal arthritis; difficulty in standing up out of a chair could point to hip problems; check for chronic fatigue or being short of breath as these could be signs of heart disease; watch out for forgetfulness or a sudden inability to do normal tasks as these could be signs of Parkinson's a mild stroke, or the onset of Alzheimer's disease; sudden weight gain or loss, unexplained thirstiness or frequent urination could point to diabetes; and urinary problems could point to prostate problems in men.
