If you suddenly realise you have stains on your clothing, it's not the end of the world, even though it feels like it. Ask to borrow someone's jersey and cover up, or stay put until you can get cleaned up without people seeing – if that's what you choose to do. This could happen to anyone. Being open and upfront about it, may just save the day.
