Most smokers have one New Year’s resolution at the very top of their list: “I must give up smoking. This year it’s for real. And heaven help me if I don’t.”. But giving up smoking is not for sissies. There’s more to puffing away than just being addicted to nicotine and that’s why it’s so difficult to stop, says Professor Chris Bolliger, a lung specialist in the department of health sciences at the University of Stellenbosch.
