Parts of your body to watch

Cancer lesions can occur in many places:

  • on the parts of the arms and legs usually exposed to the sun
  • on the eyelids
  • around and behind the ears
  • on and next to the nose
  • on the lips
  • the scalp
  • the back
  • your calves
  • the soles of your feet
  • and parts of the body never exposed to the sun.

Note: A lesion near the folds of the nose can be misleading, as it often reaches deep into the facial cavities.

Melanoma can develop anywhere on the body, even the soles of your feet and parts of the body never exposed to the sun.
