Exercise to beat the winter blues

The moment winter arrives, many people who are relatively active during the summer months, stop exercising and huddle indoors. This is a sure-fire way of gaining weight – and getting depressed. When you exercise, your body produces chemicals called endorphins that boosts your mood and combats depression.

Take action:
Yes, it is colder and darker, but if you do some planning and make a concerted effort, then you can still exercise during winter. Wrap up warmly with layers of clothing and go for a brisk walk in the bracing air, or find a gym that allows you to exercise indoors. The other option is to try doing some simple exercises at home, like skipping, or climbing the stairs a few times, or doing a workout using an exercise video.
