Many a mom-to-be fears that she won't be able to shake the kilos gained during pregnancy afterwards. A few simple steps, however, can make a vast difference – and benefit both mom and baby.

Take action:

Breastfeed your baby – if you do this for 6 months, you'll lose up to 6kg; if you need to lose even more weight, make a point of following a low-fat, high-fibre diet; don't starve yourself and don't take diet pills – these will harm your health, which has already been put under strain by the pregnancy; take things easy – relax, enjoy your baby, go for long walks in the fresh air, and take care of yourself.
