The Association for Voluntary Sterilisation of SA (AVSSA) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1975 by a group of health professionals. Which promotes the benefits of sterilisation among men and women who do not ever want more children.

They accomplish this through education and creating awareness using methods such as: providing free training to clinic staff and nurses, as well as participating at various medical / health exhibitions and shows.

By networking with local community organisations and healthcare facilities they supply free information brochures and documentation to both the general public and clinics. AVSSA readily offers advice, a counselling service and assistance when booking sterilisations.

The sterilisation services in Cape Town and surrounding areas are running efficiently and the public needs to be made aware of these services.

The following Community Health Centers and Hospitals in the Western Cape offer sterilisations free of charge on the days specified below: April 2009
