Why women often don't order beer

You and your date are sitting alone in a restaurant, and when the waiter takes your orders, she asks for a beer. What's your reaction?

Probably flat, according to a study by psychologists at Southern Illinois University. Evidently, a lot of women think ordering a brew makes a bad impression, which may be why more women don't drink beer.

The researchers offered a group of women tastes of pineapple juice, tonic water, beer and diet cola - then asked which drink they would order in a restaurant. According the journal Addictive Behavior, women avoided beer - not because of the taste or the concern about alcohol, but because they thought it might make a bad impression on other people.
