Action point

Faecal incontinence may be made worse by gas-forming foods such as beans, cabbage, spicy foods, dairy and alcohol.

Foods that "bulk-up" stool like bananas, pasta, potatoes and apples may offer better faecal control, but beware – excessive amounts of even these foods may make matters worse.

Visit our Incontinence Centre for more on managing this condition.
