Warm, tender and swollen joints are common in arthritis sufferers. Most people tend to turn to cold compresses for relief, but this may worsen the pain. Rather try a warm towel wrapped around the joint.

Cold works best for overused but not painful joints. A bag of frozen peas applied every 15 minutes will ease discomfort.
