Ads pulled on hoax doctor

A self-proclaimed healer, Dr Abdallah Kiwa, has run foul of the Advertising Standards Authority over claims that he can enlarge clients' penises and influence their enemies using a mirror.

The Johannesburg-based healer also promised in his advertising leaflets that he could make clients rich, get them promotions, bring back lost lovers and stolen property, and "remove black spots that keep taking your money away".

He could, he claimed, "bring to see your enemies [sic] and make demands on them using a mirror".

The ASA said in a ruling published on its website that after receiving a complaint from a member of the public, it had made "all reasonable attempts" to get response from Dr Kiwa, but without success.

"The respondent is therefore required to withdraw the claims complained of in their current format," the ASA said. – (Sapa, September 2009)
