Q.

pockets of 4mm

hi cyber dentist

I have periodontal disease, of 4 mm. I am diligent aboout cleaning but am susceptible to gingivitus, sleep with my mouth open.
Am going every 4 months to hygenist and floss every day.
could you tell me if gums can improve, ie if they can go from a 4 mm to say a 3mm.
ie is it reversible at all?

thanx

pocket depth is usually reduced by surgical procedures. check out www.perio.org. There are a number of articles dealing with the issue there.
However 4mm is not too bad and a good oral hygiene regimen and regular check ups wil preven the pockets from worsening
