Mouth Piece

Hi there. I have a very heavy bite and get headaches as a result. I had a bite piece made by my dentist - one of those ones that fit over your front two teeth. It worked well. But my dog ate it and I don''t have money to have another one made. Is there any reason why I can''t use one of those hockey gum/teeth guards instead? I know its not ideal but as a short term solution? I am just a bit worried that there may be a problem with whatever material its made from - think its silicone. Not sure if this should be in my mouth for seven to eight hours at a time. Many thanks for your help. Mary

Ideally the bite plate should be made to fit your teeth exactly. You could use it as a temporary solution until you can get on made- it amy not provide the relief of the custom made one- the thickness and design are different
