Q.

jaw that clicks

5 years ago, my husband had his wisdom teeth surgically removed. Two weeks later, he tried to stop a fight and got hit on the jaw. It was discovered two days later that his jaw broke in two places at the places where his teeth were removed. on each side of the lower jaw. They then operated again to put plates in his jaw and his jaw braced closed for a couple of weeks, resulting in major weight loss :) Everything healed fine.

Now the problem is, the jaw clicks very loudly every time he eats. He is scared that sumthing is wrong. Does he have to go back to the maxilo facial surgeon that operated on him for a consultation, or can a normal dentist know what to do.
reason i''m asking is that the specialist is R700 per consult cash. We don''t have any savings left in our medical aid for specialist consults.

It is advisable to see the surgeon who performed the op. The clicking is related to the joint (possible in the area of the fracture)
