Oral Health

Good morning
I' m having my titanuim plates and screws placed during my osteotomy in 1998 removed early Jan 09 during which i will also get an implant to replace the extracted molar. The molar was extracted on 18/9/2008 so it will be just a little less than 4 months,
is a temporary crown places during surgery? also i' ve chatted to my surgeon and asked if its a good idea to remove the plates and screws on both sides as they are of no value any longer and to avoid having to go to theatre again? he said that he thinks its a good idea as i have quite a heavy filling in the molar on the otherside and if my jaw were to suffer any trauma in future the plate might act as a blade? not sure what that means tho.

i go in for surgery on the friday - how long do you think i will need to be off from work? (forgot to ask him -sorry)

have a lovely weekend

a temporary crown may not be placed in theatre but should be placed soon after

time off from work should be around 3-4 days.
good luck
