Q.

Gum absess

My 7 year old son has a blister like thing (we called it a gum ball when we were younger) on his upper gum. It is yellow/red in colour, the size of a small pea just above the 2nd small tooth from the front ones. He says that his teeth hurts. He is having his first big front tooth coming out. How should I treat this? Does the problem come from his baby teeth taking too long to fall out? Is it problems with the roots of the teeth? Should he visit the dentist? Please help.

see a dentist- the baby tooth needs to be removed. there are a number of causes for an abscess, the most common one being decay which has been left untreated.

Sorry, the correct phrase for the the blister on his gum is " gum boil"  and not gum ball.
