Q.

Fourth wisdom tooth

Hi,

I’ m 25 years old.

About 8 years ago I had 3 wisdom teeth removed. Dentist told me that only 3 wisdom teeth developed (so the left-side top wisdom tooth did not develop at all).

For the last few weeks I have been suffering from severe toothache and it becomes quite swollen where the fourth tooth should have been. The pain and swelling goes away for a few days and then returns. I can''t see that a tooth is coming through though.

Could it be possible that the fourth tooth which did not show on the x-ray 8 years ago could have developed since and are now growing out?

Thanks for your advice!

It's likely that the initial x-ray did not show the tooth. Have it x-rayed again
