Q.

Finally Braces in 2009

Please can someone advise me how to go about. I am going on a new medical scheme from Jan as the old one didn’ t allow me to do a lot. My 14 yr old need braces very bad. I went to some hospitals this year, but no one could help. So I am taking her to orthodontist first thing in Jan, but do I first need to go to a dentist and they will refer me, or could I just go to a orthodontist on my own. Also if I can just go to a orthodontist on my own, does anyone know of a good orthodontist in JHB South.
Thank you all

it is advisable to first go to a dentist as braces CANNOT be placed if the teeth have cavities or some other problem/infection is found.
it is best for your dentist to refer you to an orthodontist he works with as the dentist and orthodontist will liase throughout the treatment phase
