Q.

Endless problems with teeth

Good day,

I''m writing because I''m desperate for a solution to my long term problems with my teeth! Over the past 5 years I''ve had non-stop problems with my teeth, going back and forth between dentists and paying lots and lots of money. All my back teeth are giving me problems - all of them have had root canals and I am trying to get money together to do crowns on all of them. I have 3 already.I lost one crown due to a serious abcess where my entire tooth had to be removed,my teeth break from the slightest thing and almost all of my teeth have got fillings.I''ve got constant pain from fillings falling out, broken teeth and my dentist tries to keep up but every week almost I return with more damage. Should I just take all of them out and go for false teeth!?! I''m 24 yrs old and so tired of having pain and paying my entire salary towards dental expenses. Also, I have had my wisdom teeth taken out 3 years ago.

Hi Christie

It is very difficult to say whether you should extract all your teeth and have dentures made without a proper examination. That is quite a drastic decision and should only be made after careful consideration.
What is the reason for the teeth/fillings breaking?

I don''t know - they just seem to break for no reason at all, they are so brittle that I''m to scared to eat anything hard/tough like steak, sweets, dried fruit, etc. The thing is that I don''t know if its worth spending so much money on, in the last 6 months I had to fork out over R4000 for crowns and I need at least another 2. My gums are really really sensitive too, and I''m just sick of having constant pain in my mouth...
