Q.

Dentures for a seventy year old male

My father of seventy in Zimbabwe feels that it is not necessary to wear dentures. I have not seen him for four years. A recent photograph sent to me shows he has lost a phenomenal amount of weight and is no doubt malnourished. Other than being more socially acceptable, are there any other professional reasons why it would be important for him to have dentures? Please advise soonest as he is coming to visit us in Cape Town and if need be I will have to have this situation sorted out for him.

yes, the amount of bone lost through recession will be lessened due to the increased pressure placed on the gum/bone area. Also, it is obviously affecting his diet so at his age anything that will make him eat bettter is an advantage.
