Dentures

Hi Doc. I am 52 years old and over the past 10 years have had numerous problems with my teeth, i.e. fillings, abcesses and broken front teeth. I have 8 veneers on my top front teeth. I am wanting my dentist to extract my top teeth and have dentures made. He is totally against this for various reasons, I will take a long time to get used to them, may have pain from the dentures all the time and shrivelled up gums which will then result in have my gums built up. I am at my wits end - how do you feel about dentures? Thanks
