Q.

Blood condition, and claustaphobia

Dear Dr,

Please can you help me.

I have a blood condition its only a high platelet count, which is controlled with medication. I am not a bleeder, and i have to have about 9 teeth removed.

My dentist told me because of my condition, i must go see the maxillo facial specialist for the extractions do to problems that might occure during the extractrions. i.e. excessive bleeding etc, and therefore i would be closer to the icu incase.

But my problem is that i am terribly claustaphobic, and cannot even see this specialist as he is on the top floor of the hospital.

Can i not just get one tooth pulled in the chair of my current dentist? Will they turn me down if i tell them my problem? I have about 4 absesses in my mouth, and the pain and swelling is really bad now.

Please tell me what my options are???

Regards.

I agree with your dentist in that you need to see a maxillofacial specialist.
Ask your dentist to refer you to another surgeon who is located elsewhere.
It is not advisable to have one tooth extracted only as you have multiple abscesses.
The other option would be to get the maxillofacial to come to your dentists rooms for a consultation- this shold not be a problem for him
