Black mole in mouth

I have had flu for a while, but am much better, but my throat has been red still and my voice abit hoarse, anyway I was looking at my throat in the mirror to check it out and I saw what appeared to be a black mole after my molars on the gum, I tried to scratch it off as I thought it may have been food, but it wouldn''t budge, then I looked closer and realised it is part of my gum, how can this suddendly appear, it is the first time that I noticed it. Do you have any advice for me, thanks

Discoloration of the gums is common, however if this is something that has only started recently have it checked out by your dentist
