Q.

Worried about metallic tast in mouth.

I had a root canal done about 3 years ago, but didn't have the funds for a crown. 3 weeks ago the tooth cracked about a third of the tooth. There has been no pain or swelling, so I have not yet been to the dentist. I try and thoroughly brush the area twice a day to keep it as clean as possible. I'm careful not to eat on that side, but have over the last few days started having a metallic taste in my mouth. I have a dentist appointment in just over 2 weeks time. Should I be worried about the taste and get to the dentist sooner, as I have no pain or swelling?

It is better to see a dentist sooner to assess the extent of the fracture. Root canal treated teeth are susceptible to fractures under the gumline.
