Q.

Zyrtec drops

Hi, doc....my baby(10 months old ) was admitted to hospital for 1 week with broncho pneumonia. This was 2 weeks ago...His pead said that I need to carry on with his Zyrtec (2 drops in the morning and 2 at night). I must also carry on with his Singulair (4 mg powder) at nights, for one month. But since he was so much better, I stopped the Z an S, because his RAST tests were all negative and for EA average. I feel bad to give such a small child so many anti-allrgy meds. But now he started sneezing and runny nose again, maybe I was silly stopping the meds....Is all these meds at such a yough age save/recommended?

Thanx

You do not need to carry on with these medicines. No allergic cause was found for your baby's illness. He seems to have another cold already. Use saline nose drops twice a day until he clears up and give him a probiotic such as Reuteri to boost his immunity.

My LO has been on the same meds since she was 9 months. She is 18 months old now and i can see a big difference in her " quality of life"
