My grandson is 12 days old and was discharge with mom the 3rd day and slightly yaundace i think the belirubin count was 12.2 the docter said it was not serius but he is 12 days old and seems to have that yellowish colour the Dr at the hospital they said she should let him get some direct sunlight for about 10 min a day and it will clear up am i just a parenoid gran or do i have a point feeling concernd about the yellow colour he still have his feeding well passes water and have dirty nappy with each feed and is breastfed

This kind of jaundice is very common in newborn babies and is known as physiological jaundice. It tends to be prolonged in some breast fed babies. The bilirubin count is relatively low so there is no need for concern. The jaundice will take some time to disappear but will do so.If your grandson becomes more deeply jaunduced for any reason he must be taken back to the doctor for a repeat bilirubin test.
