worried mom

Hi all
Sat night I noticed when my almost 4yrs old son was crying that his mouth was sagging to the side. It got worse on Sunday and the GP refered him to a paed. On Mon he was diagnosed with Bell''s palsy. It was very shocking and to this day I wanna cry when I look at him. Half of his face is pulling to the right. I was told that he can''t be on medication and the face should go back to normal in a few weeks. Now it is very hard for me to just accept that there''s no cure for your baby. What advice can you give me? Should I get a 2nd opinion? Go see a neurologist maybe? There must be something I can do please

Bell's palsy is a common illness in children and adults. It is due to a virus infection of a nerve in the face called the ''facial nerve''. It is a temporary condition and there is no medicine that will help.In order to shorten the duration of your son's illness it may help to take your son to see a physiotherapist.
