Paediatrician

This is a very good question. Babies have to have an open nose to breathe properly. There does appear to be a problem with your baby only breathing through his mouth and having difficulty in crying. Babies who have a blocked nose [his nasal passages may not be open] or other problem with their upper airway, such as conditions called tracheomalacia or vascular ring, tend to hold their heads back as you describe here. It is essential for your baby to be seen by a paediatrician ASAP, so that aclear diagnosis can be made as to whether there is a problem here or not
