Q.

Winds and stomach cramps

my baby is five weeks old, and is currently on a lactose free formula (Nan - lactose free)however still suffers from severe stomach cramps and winds. I have been giving her Gripe water and buscopan. I was also using Telament drops in every feed. Is it true that Telament can actually aggravate the situation and what advice can you provide to relieve the cramps and winds. She appears to be in pain during the bouts of cramping and winds and this also prevents her from sleeping?

Please help.....

It seems that your baby has a colic problem rather than a lactose intolerance problem as she still has cramps and is windy on the lactose free formula. Put her on a normal formula such as NAN and give her treatment for her colic. Buscopan is good as is Gripe water for a colicky baby. She will not need the Telament.

Our twins are 2 weeks old and cry a lot with cramps and winds. We were told to give them boiling water (cooled down) and we give them telament drops as well. Apartfrom this, is there anything else or even better that we can use to ease the cramps and pain? A despperate mother

Good day,

My son is 2 yrs old and for the past few weeks, he has been complaining about the pain on his belly button. He can hardly sleep at night. We have taken him to the doctor, more than 4 tiems already this month. Could this be collic, if so, can it still be so persistant on a 2 year old child.

Am I overreacting as parent. Please help, I cannot bear the pain my child is going through.

Regards
