Q.

Why is that Doctor?

I am told that an HIV positive mommy should breastfeed exclusively for 6 months, no water. Why is it not 2months or 3 months? As I would like to breasfeed given a chance to be a mom one day.

Thanks

HIV mothers can breast feed if they choose to do so and this can be continued for as long as the mother wishes to do so. This is provided that treatment to prevent mother to child transmission of the virus has been given.
