It is difficult to be sure about the cause of a once off white stool in a young child. Stools get their normal colour from bile stored in the gall bladde and if there is no bile being secreted then stools can be white in colour. This would not be the reason for a once off white stool. A chalky white stool could result from giving a child a medicine called Kaopectin or other pectin containing medicines used to treat diarrhoea. The antibiotics also may have something to do with this as well by killing the 'good' bacteria in your child's bowel. Give him probiotics for at least 10 days.
