Dear Prof

My 3 yrs old son have white coating on his toungue, I try brushing it off with a toothbrush but is not helping. He drink black rooibos tea during the day and a cup of milk in the evening. What can be the cause? What can I use to clean it?

Paediatrician

It sounds as if your son has thrush This is due to a candida infection of his tongue. As he is already 3 years old he is 'too old' to have thrush and the reason for his thrush needs to be found. It would be best to take him to see a paediatrician or take him to your nearest paediatric outpatients department at your local hospital.
