When to take son to hospital

My son was yesterday diagnosed (again) with bronchitis, but this time around his chest sounds worse than it ever was before even when he had pneumonia. He is totally out of breath and needs to rest often he has a dry barking cough which is sore and when he breaths it sounds more like puffing or like an effort. He got antibiotics (erithromycin, he is allergic to augmentin) and I nebulized him with duolin and pulmicort yesterday evening. When do I know when to take him to a peaditrician and when to hospital. He had a fever also 2 days ago and was again warm this morning. We had very bad experiences with both my sons 2 years ago when they both were admitted every second week for 3 months for pneumonia, tonsilitis and otitis media.

From your description your son's illness sounds like croup and not bronchitis. He is on the wrong treatment for croup. Please take him to be seen by a paediatrician or back to the emergency section of your hospital.
