When to take a child to the docter

Dear Doc

Thanks for all the great advice

Is there any markers on when to take a coughing child to the docter. How can a mother know when its time for antibiotics?

What is your opinion with regards to homeopathy and do you think it''s worth taking a chronic snotty coughing toddler to see one.

Thank you

You are welcome. Most toddlers develop a bit of a cough when they have a cold especially with viral infections such as the RSV virus. Your child appears to have post nasal drip causing the cough. Anytime that a cough is persistent, lasts longer than a few days, keeps a child awake or causes any distress to the child it is time to see a doctor. It is important to keep your child's nose clear by using a saline nasal spray. Homeopathy is always a personal preference and decision which I respect.
