Q.

What time is best - mommy opinions too please

Hello all

My little one is 6 months old and she has a very healthy appetite despite teething. She isn''t all that fussy except later in the day. My feeding routine is as follows (give or take 30min....depends on how late she sleeps in the morning):

06:30 - Bottle (up to 120ml)
09:30 - Rice cereal with bottle (up to 180ml)
13:30 - Pureed chicken and veg
16:30 - Bottle (up to 180ml)
18/18:30 - Small portion of pureed fruits
20:00 - Bottle (up to 180ml)

I leave the quantities up to HER to a certain degree. I do have to encourage her a bit sometimes because of her teething but she comes around in the end.

What I would like to know is if it is important for me to specifically feed her FRUITS in the morning/afternoon or is it OK to give them to her later in the day. The reason for this is that she doesn''t really like her veggies and by the afternoon she is EXTRA fussy. I find that she eats veggies more willingly in the afternoon (lunch time) and if I wait until evening she spits it out EVERYWHERE and she screams. If I MUST give her fruit in the morning/afternoon, can I move the cereal feed to later in the day and feed her fruit as part of her second feed? I was scared that fruit IMMEDIATELY followed by milk can cause a tummy upset and I can''t find any info on this online.

Also, everything on her menu has been OKed by her paediatrician and she has NO problems moving food from the very front of her mouth to the back. She even opens her mouth and she smiles while eating and she has no other problems at all. She is an otherwise happy, healthy baby and she sleeps like a log too! :-)

Thank you to anyone who can offer their opinion.

As Zee01 indicated, every child is different. If she feeds better on fruits in the afternoon then give it to her then, or veggies in the morning...bottom line is that she eats well and that she gets all recommended portions of veggies/fruits/protein/dairy in each day.

Ok, to think back to 6 months....  -)
My baby has always had a nap at about 12, half past after lunch, with a bottle.
Breakfast as rice cereal is fine, I was just wondering if you maybe start giving a bit more time between breakfast and the bottle, maybe she will eat a bit more, but not to long as you do not want to influence lunch! Difficult!
Ok, as lunch my little one always got veggies cooked at school, and I must admit that I think we only introduced meat a bit later, maybe it is to heavy for her?
Then for dinner it was normally fruit or veg as well, and only later meat...

It seems like a fine menu, the thing is that all kids are diffirent, and you are going to have to find the right balance for yours!
Play around with the menu, see what works....
I remember mine kid was always hungry when I picked him up from school, and then he would get grumpy, so you have to find the balance that works for her...

Good luck!
