Q.

wet cough from chest and grommet in ear canal

Good Morning

My Two Year old daughter had grommets inserted some time last year ,when I look into her ear I can see them, the left one is still intact, the right one has fallen out and lodged in that dip in the canal and been in that exact place for a while now , I’ m not sure if this is normal ? you can see the build up of wax underneath &  arouond the grommet,(Right). Shhe also has a problem with her chest she has been to the doctor a month ago and he prescribed 3 augmentine (150ml) and singulair, we only gave her the 100 ml as she got better after this, but she seems to have bronchitis again , her mucus is not green but clear,no runny green poo either. should we take her back to the doctor and also have her grommets checked out, or should I just go down to my chemist and get the rest of the augmentine that I did not give to her , I also have some aspelone that was prescribed abt 3-4 months ago , can I give her this or is it recommended not to.
Please send me any other suggestions

Your daughter's grommet in her right ear is definitely out and I would guess that the left one is as well. It is not possible to see a grommet still in place in the eardrum without an otoscope as used by your doctor. It is difficult to advise you about your daughter's chest and what would be best for her without being able to see her. It is possible that she has asthma rather than bronchitis. Probably the best way forward is to keep her on the Singulair and to give her a 5-day course of Aspelone [5ml once daily for 5 days]If she is still not better by then it would be best to take her to see your doctor again.
