wet cough

Hi Doc,
My son coughs in the morining and in the evening, almost everyday. I give him bronchoped whenever he starts coughing, but is it safe to give it to him so often? how come the coughing does not go away. it''s the kind of cough where you can hear that the phlegm is coming out. also his nose seems to be stuffy in the mornings. he is 4

Your son almost certainly has a problem with mucous running back down his throat from his nose which is known as a 'post nasal drip'.This post nasal mucous drip causes him to cough in this way. You should concentrate on getting his nose clear.Use a saline nasal spray such as Sterimar twice daily to clear his nose. Continue giving him the Brochoped. If he is still coughing in 10 day's time he should be checked by a doctor.
