weight gain

Hi there

First of all, thanks Doc &  to all of you for this informative site. I' m a new dad &  find this forum quite useful.
My son had a mild case of colic during his first three months (he' s now completing his fourth month). He was being breast &  formula fed &  we tried a number of formulas, which either didn' t improve his condition or had him constipated, until about six weeks ago, we put him on Novelac IT. He' s been fine since then, but hasn' t put on any weight in the last four weeks (according to the weight data from his vaccination). He doesn' t appear to have lost any weight, but we' re really worried about this, since he' s been puttin on an average of about 1kg a month since birth. Could it possibly be the formula? Also since his immunization (last Thursday) he just refuses to drink. With a lot of struggle he manages to complete approx 150ml &  has about 5 feeds a day. Is this sufficient for him?

You are welcome. Unfortunately you have not given me your son's present weight so I am not in good position to answer your question.Your baby needs about 140ml for every kilogram he weighs per day. Depending on his present weight again, he may be taking enough if he is drinking 750ml per day of his formula. I would prefer to answer your question in more detail so please let me know about his weight.

Sorry for the incomplete info. He currently weighs 6.6kg. His birth weigt was 3.4 kg. He weighed at his 3 month vaccination as well, so it seems that he hasn' t put on any weight in a month.
