Hallo, my 6 year old boy got up 1000 Sunday Morning and vomited. I gave him valoid suppositry and water 1/4 piece of toast. Then he did it again. He fell asleep and by One o clock woke up and vomit again. I then gave him stematol 5g and some hydrate water.

He went back to sleep and when he wakes up everytime he vomits. I then carried on with valoids every 6 hours and when he was awake 10ml hydrate every 15-30 minutes.

The last time was yesterday round about 11h00. I then took him to the doctor and he said he sees no symptoms of dehydration or gastro etc. I also gave him another stematol.

He said I should have him tested for meningitis, but my child is not feverish and he ate 2 slices of toast during the day and his supper last night. This morning he had toast again.

Should I be worried and have him tested. He seems to be better today and also not sleeping and he is playing.

When children of this age vomit like this it is important to exclude meniningitis as a cause. Fortunately your son seems to be getting better already. The most likely cause of his illness is meningitis caused by a virus which usually lasts for about 48 hours. He should continue to recover by himself without any treatment being necessary.
