The average weight for a boy of 41 months is 15.3kg. Your son's weight of 13kg is in the lowest 10% for boys of his age,so he is considerably underweight. His appetite is very poor and his diet of Weetbix and a little water and juice is insufficient for him. The problem is that both TB itself as well as Rifampicin can cause a loss of appetite. I am also concerned about your son. I recommend that it is necessary to take him back to the doctor who prescribed the Rifampicin. A decision needs to be made about a possible change in treatment. Also a decision is needed regarding your son's poor appetite and growth. Vitamins alone will not solve this problem.
