This is a very good question and it appears that you have been thinking deeply about what happens to bacteria and viruses when they are outside the body or in sunlight. Most bacteria [germs] and viruses will not survive being outside the body for more than about 12 hours, but there are some that can and do survive for days and even for months in the outside air.The flu virus is said to be able to survive for about 22 days outside the body and can be detected on hard surfaces such as on money for this period and the TB bacteria can survive for several months.
