Virus alert

Dear Prof, If a may issue this forum to please alert all parents to the Aldeno virus that is going around in creche''s and amongst our children! Our baby girl of 11 months got ill at creche last week, Paed diagnosed ear infection, she was on antibiotics but just got worse every day, runny tummy (3 diapers each day), did not want to eat/ drink, eyes were watery and red, " wet cough"  and had fever of 39+. On Wed moring we took het to ER and she was admitted in hosp. The Paed took samples and diagnosed Aldeno virus (please look it up on internet), there were 3 other babies in isolation ward with the same, highly infectious! She was very ill, were put on drip, etc. She was discharged on Friday and is doing very well now, fever was under control and she only started eating a little bit from Saturday! Worst thing was, it was her 1st b''day on Friday, but we are greatful she''s home and doing well. Parents, please look out for any of these symptomes and concult with your Paed! Thank you for this. It is very important. If you look 2 questions up you will see a question that mentions the adenovirus. The adenovirus is a very virulent virus and it often takes quite a while before children recover from this kind of virus chest infection. Your experience is typical of the dangers of this particular virus infection.

Apologies, the correct spelling of the virus is Adeno virus.
