Viral wheezer

Professor, why is it that some children get a cold and it is just a matter of time and it is vibrating in the chest? Are some kids just prone to this or is it the norm?
Also my lg had the flu vac but my logic tells me that his isnt going to help with preventing chest infections after a cold? She is known to be a viral wheezer and is on seretide.

Your daughter falls into the very large group of pre-school children with recurrent viral wheezing. The actual reason why they have recurrent viral wheezing is not known, but may be due to the fact that they have relatively narrow airways in their lungs for the first few years of their lives. They always outgrow this by the time they start going to school.
The flu vaccine will certainly prevent some types of virus from infecting your daughter's airways, but the vaccine only contains a limited number of virus strains and other viruses such as the RS Virus and adenovirus can still cause episodes of viral wheezing.
