My granddaughter is 7 months old as was diagnosed with viral pneumonia on monday. She was admitted to hospital and was discharged on the thursday. She developed a rash on her face and body while in hospital and we were told this is normal when the fever starts to come down. Is this normal?
The same night at home her cough became worse than when she was in hospital. Is this due to the antibiotics? Can we use a nebulizer?

Your granddaughter appears to be allergic to the antibiotic which has caused the rash you mention here. Please note the name and avoid its use in the future. In any case she does not need an antibiotic for a viral infection. So stop the antibiotic. This illnesss usually lasts for at least 5 to 7 days and she will get better by herself. Give your granddaughter a good probiotic now such as Reuteri drops 1ml daily for 10 days.
