Q.

Vaccines ref. post 793

As per post 793.
My son has a runny nose and a cough. If this has cleared by Friday, can he go for his Prevenar on Friday? If not, when would be a good time? Why cant he have the vaccine while sick?

The usual advice is to wait a week until you are sure that your child is over the illness. It is general policy not to administer any immunisation to an ill child as this causes an extra load on the immune system and the vaccine may not be as effective as it should be and also side effects are more likely to occur.
