Unexplained fever

My 2 and a half year old was sick in hospital with bronchopneumonia. She''s been out now for 2 weeks, and she doesn''t have any symptoms anymore except she keeps on getting very high fevers and she doesn''t want to eat. She would be 100% fine and then 10 minutes later we''ll notice she''s very red in the face and then her temperature would be over 40. It usually takes a while to get the temperature down with Calpol and Nurofen. We took her to a paediatrician, but she couldn''t find anything wrong with her and says she just came out of the hospital too soon. She also said the fever could be because she is aneamic. She is on Ferrimed. She also lost a kg from the time she''s been at hospital. Should be get a second opinion?

It seems that your little girl has picked up another infection now. This is due to an infection with the Parvovirus B19 and is called Fifth Disease or 'Slapped Cheek Syndrome' You can read more about it on Google. It is not a serious illness and she will get better after a few days. No treatment other than Panado or Calpol for fever is required.
