Under-weight - Baby not eating

Good day,< br> My son turned a year last week.< br> On his last clinic visit (a month ago), he weighed 11.2 Kg& #39 s - I was not very happy about this but was told that his weight is fine.< br> Last week, on his birthday, he had another visit scheduled and his weight dropped to 11kg& #39 s - now I& #39 m terribly concerned.< br> He eats his breakfast well (cooked porridge - mielie meal or oats), sometimes he refuses lunch altogether and his nanny has confirmed that she also battles to get him to eat at lunch time!< br> The evening meals are a hassle as well and he will only finish a meal if it& #39 s yoghurt, custard or porridge again otherwise he will only eat 2-3 teaspoons if it& #39 s meat and veggies.< br> I breastfeed at night and on weekends and he is on two bottles a day (NAN 2 but we& #39 ve changed to Nido since his birthday).< br> Is my son under-weight and what can I do to help him increase his appetite - is there a vitamin &  mineral supplement you& #39 re able to prescribe that will give him more of an appetite?< br> Thank you so much!< br> Regards,< br> MCS

Your baby son's weight is infact above the average for his age so there is no need at all for any concern.

mcs, my baby turned 1 on monday, she weighed 10.2, now i heard that a baby' s weight triples by the time they turn 1, mine weighed 3.3kg, now she wieghs more than she shud wich shuold be 9.9,so the doc is rite when he says not to worry, your son' s probably coming down with smthn, my baby refuses to eat as well, so i give her small meals every chance i get mayb every 2hours if she' s awake, they do sumtimes go thru a phase whereby they dnt want to eat, keep givivng him fruits or finger foods he can feed himself with, and we' l see how it goes, dnt worry he' ll be altight, also you can try an get him Multivitamin drops (the name escapes rite now) from checkers or a pharmacy, thats what i give my baby abd thats what my mother gave to me, its thick adn orange and very sweet.
