Q.

under weight?

my son is 16 months old, weighs 9.4kg and is 75cm long. He is busy teething at this stage and all his seems to come out shortly after each other. We struggle to get him to eat and if he eats he likes bread, viennas, chicken &  cheese. He doesn' t want to eat fine foods or veggies. I bought pediasure to give him if he doesn' t want to eat, but he don' t like the taste. What else can i do?

The average weight for a 16month old baby boy is 11.5kg. Your son's weight is well below the average and he is in the lowest 10% of babies for his weight. He seems to have a very poor appetite, but will eat some nourishing foods.I do not include viennas among these nourishing foods.Even so his weight is of concern.I would like to be sure that your son is well. We need to exclude conditions like an anaemia,a blocked nose or tonsil infection or something other than teething to explain his poor appetite. Please ask his paediatrician to check him.
