Tummy problem?

Please can you offer me some advise? My almost seven month old is well into solids now. He began with meat about three weeks ago (first steamed chicken and veggies and then beef etc). About two weeks after adding meat to his diet he began to wake up at night. At first I assumed it was teething but I noticed he seemed to be cramping and had allot of gas throughout the night. After a few nights of disturbed sleep (he usually sleeps right through) I decided to stop adding meat to his veggies. After a few days of not eating meat, he is sleeping well again and is not battling with wind. Could meat possibly upset the tummy? Is it ok to just stick to cereal, fruit and veggies for a few more weeks and then re introduce meat? His weight now is about 7 kgs.
Thank you.

It is very possible that your baby is allergic to or intolerant to beef. This is not uncommon and is usually a temporary problem which children outgrow by their second or third years.Beef contains many of the allergens found in cow's milk.Do not give him any beef. He should be able to tolerate chicken and probably also lamb.
